10 June 2024, Colombo: Always encouraging and supporting youth to reach their full potential, Pan Asia Bank proudly announces a special recognition of Rs. 100,000 worth Daskam Savings Account for 17-year-old Charithma Jinendri Maitipe, who saved two lives by swimming through a flash flood in the Padukka Wagandapola area. A student at Padukka Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya, she displayed extraordinary bravery during a recent heavy rainstorm which caused a sudden flood in the middle of the night. As the water levels rapidly rose by about 10 feet, many residents fled to higher ground. However, hearing cries for help, Charithma reacted swiftly to come to the aid of the victims caught up in the flood waters with no thought for her own safety. She managed to bring the husband and wife in distress to safety. Pan Asia Bank salutes her selfless act of courage by offering this reward of Rs. 100,000/- for her brave act from the Pan Asia Daskam Children’s Savings Account. Although she lost her certificates and essential study materials in the flood, Charithma remains optimistic about her future. Pan Asia Bank hopes her heroic act will inspire others and also encourage her to fulfill her dreams.
