The Bank rehabilitated the Mahawewa tank in the Balagolla wasama region of the Kurunegala District on which scores of families depend for paddy farming to survive. The only two tanks in the village, Mahawewa and Muhunwewa were covered with mud and Eichhornia plants and had fallen into disrepair. As a result, the water capacity fell to 20% of actual capacity, thereby impacting paddy farmers negatively. Pan Asia Bank carried out the cleaning and rehabilitations of the tanks to increase water capacity to 100% of total capacity, thereby benefitting the paddy farmers. The Bank invested an Rs. 4.59 million towards this initiative.
