RANSI account is for nonresident Sri Lankans, that is if you are a Sri Lankan citizen who has proceeded abroad to take up employment or to set up a business in a profession and continue to live abroad, and if you are a citizen of Sri Lanka who have made your permanent place of residence outside Sri Lanka, you are exempted from all exchange control restrictions applicable to nonresident investments provided that you remit foreign exchange earnings for investment through a RANSI account...
As per the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Share Investment External Rupee Accounts (SIERA), Treasury bond Investment External Rupee Accounts (TIERA), Treasury bill Investment External Rupee Account (TIERA-2) & Treasury bonds/bills Investment External Rupee Accounts- Deshabhimani (TIERA-D) are now amalgamated to one single account named as Securities Investment Accounts (SIA)
